Der Communicator 9500 von Nokia wird neben Triband GSM und GPRS auch den schnelleren Standard EGPRS sowie erstmals für ein Smartphone auch WLAN integriert haben. Damit wird mit zusätzlicher Software bei Abdeckung mit WLAN Hotspots auch IP-Telefonie möglich sein. Daneben unterstützt der Communicator 9500, welcher ab Q4 2004 erhältlich sein wird, folgende Standards:
